Man Parrish Stories – Volume One: Incredible Stories From A Remarkable Life

Book Synopsis: Man Parrish is a living legend in the music industry. You may not know his name right now, but you will never forget him after reading this book. As one of the founders of modern electronic music, he laid the foundations for electro, hip-hop, techno, and house music. His early tracks like “Hip-Hop Be Bop (Don’t Stop)” and “Boogie Down Bronx” were period-defining works that influenced artists from Run-D.M.C. and the Beastie Boys to Daft Punk, Missy Elliott, Lady Gaga, and Peaches to name a few. Parrish’s tracks remain undisputed classics. He’s worked with, written, and produced music for household names like Boy George, Michael Jackson, Gloria Gaynor, Roberta Flack, and Klaus Nomi. His collaborations with Euro 80s groups like Man2Man, Steve Strange and Visage, and Bronski Beat are legendary. His run-ins with Madonna are the stuff of urban legend. He sold tens of millions of records but never got paid, and David Bowie’s manager even tried to guide his career. His hysterical stories range from dropping acid on stage at the Metropolitan Opera House at 14 to rummaging through David Bowie’s underwear drawer in Bowie’s home, from working for the mafia as a drug mule to rejecting Freddie Mercury’s pick-up advances in a bar. Parrish even recounts the chilling story of the 90s club kid Michael Alig, aka Party Monster Movie fame, who personally revealed the intense details of how he committed his horrific murder crime while driving through the rain in New York City. But this book is more than celebrity gossip, although there is plenty; it’s about perseverance, will, and strength. It’s the story of a human drive to survive against all odds. Parrish survived childhood mental, physical, and sexual abuse. At 14, he ran away from a dysfunctional home with a schizophrenic mother, only to be taken in by an older man involved in a pedophile ring. His story takes you on a cinematic yet conversational journey through his life, from being homeless, broke, and hungry to traveling the world first-class with major music artists. His true life tales are insightful, raw, hysterical, and heartbreaking. This book is a fantastic collection of short, true-life stories told casually and easily. This is the first book of several. Man Parrish’s stories on YouTube have captivated large audiences, and he shares those stories in detail here. Reader Feedback: “Your book was an easy read for me.
