How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings, help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

Arrived slightly bashed.
Arrived a little bit damaged; don’t have time to return as it’s a gift – but expected more from a book that costs a little more than average.

Not finished reading it as yet. However, quite interesting insight into how this man thinks and questions everything ,
A lot can be learned from Bezos ( a bit of an odd ball ) but at the top of his game for sure.

Very interesting but should have been more selective with the repetitive content. More comment and analysis would have been welcomed as Isaacson writes well himself.

I thought that a book about such a dynamic high achiever would make for an interesting read. How wrong I was. If you’ve ever had the misfortune to have to read through a pile of unrelated memos, you’ll understand instantly just what a chore it was to wade (part way) through this book. After spending what seemed like eternity ploughing through the first chapter, I alighted at the second with a metaphorical spring in my literary step hoping that the book would pick up a bit. It didn’t, so back on the shelf it went to wait for the next trip to the charity shop. (I hope they haven’t read this review or they might refuse to take it and then I’ll be stuck with it.)

Really short chapters that are basically opinions. Don’t bother.

5.0 out of 5 stars How do you spell profit? P-R-O-P-H-E-T.

This was a great read. Bezos is a wicked smart dude. He quotes Warren Buffet and Benjamin Graham, Buffett’s teacher at Columbia. Lots of great leadership, business and life wisdom in this book.
Reading about the origin of Amazon Web Services (something near and dear to my heart after working in tech for a couple years) was fascinating.

AWS sales grew faster than marketplace sales. Amazon had no direct competitor in the cloud for 7 years, which is unheard of.

He also goes into reading balance sheets at one point which was really interesting. I didn’t read this book expecting a mini masterclass in valuing companies so that was a bonus.

5.0 out of 5 stars Una visión siempre largoplacista

Reviewed in Mexico on 25 January 2022

Excelente libro.

5.0 out of 5 stars Read this to 10X your Business Thinking

Reviewed in Canada on 17 January 2021

Jeff Bezos is, without question, one of the most successful entrepreneurs that has ever lived. This book is a collection of his thoughts and ideas over the past 20+ years, and provides a fascinating inside look into his mind.

Reading this book will help you understand how Amazon went from start-up to behemoth in just 26 years — and how its founder became the world’s richest person in the process process — by being customer-obsessed and making decisions in the right way.

A deep analysis of Jeff’s thoughts and newsletters. I’ll recommend book to anyone who wants to learn about the history of Amazon and its visionary leader.
