Existentialists And Mystics: Writings on Philosophy and Literature

EXISTENTIALISTS AND MYSTICS gathers together for the first time in one volume the most influential and inspiring of Iris Murdoch’s essays and shorter pieces – including major critiques of existentialism written in the fifties, important essays such as ‘The Sublime and the Good’, and her two Platonic dialogues on art and religion. There are also incisive evaluations of the thinking and writings of T S Eliot, Simone Weil, Gabriel Marcel, Sartre, Camus, Simone de Beauvoir and Elias Canetti: and key texts on the concept of love, on Tolstoy versus Kant, and on the role great literature can play in curing the ills of philosophy. – ASIN: 0140264922 | ISBN13: 9780140264920 | ISBN-13: 978-0140264920
