My oasis of calm isn’t a sun-drenched beach, a luxurious palace or a tranquil cottage in the countryside . . . it’s a football ground nestled behind a row of terraced houses. Where the elation of victory and the heartache of defeat are interwoven, and the roar of the crowd becomes a symphony. Hopefully this book will explain why – my semi-biographical jaunt through years of devotion following the mighty Cumbrians. We all have a story to tell. This is mine. They say the best things in life are free, but this is not strictly true. My love and support for my football club has not been cheap, but the rewards have been priceless. What began as an awakening has turned into an obsession which, at times, can be quite inexplicable.
